Back in January, an anonymous Jets playercalled Mark Sanchez "lazy" and revealed that he wanted the team to sign Peyton Manning in the offseason. At the time, Sanchez laid low and refused to engage in a war of words with a player who didn't want to put his name out there. But, it didn't end there. During the start of the offseason, other anonymous Jets players and sources came out as well, saying that they didn't believe Sanchez was the future of the franchise. So yesterday, Sanchez finally went on the record to address those anonymous Jets players.

"If you're not going to put your name on something," he said during a media session at the Randall's Island Sports Foundation event in New York City last night, "why waste anybody's time? Obviously, they had strong opinions about it, but not strong enough to say who they were."

Ouch. The Sanchize also spoke about his tumultuous relationship with Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes as well, saying that it wasn't anywhere near as bad as the media made it out to be. "It got blown out a little more than it really needed to," he said. "But after underachieving—as competitive as we are—we were frustrated. That's fine; there's nothing wrong with that. But learning that is most important...I think there were some things I could've handled better with him and our communication."

Just with him, Mark? How about your communication with—oh, I don't know—yourentire team? Maybe that would have prevented a bunch of anonymous sources from ripping you in the first place. Oh well. Better luck next season!
