France has a much lower alcohol limit than America, 0.05 compared to 0.08, and yet the drunk driving fatality rate is still extremely high. About 30 percent of all road fatalities stem from alcohol use and have been the No. 1 cause of road deaths since 2007. Although those numbers have been cut about 40 percent since 2001, France still feels the need to try to make driving a safer experience for all. To make that hope a reality, the French passed a law that all vehicles must have breathalyzer by July 1. It doesn't have to be a device that interlocks with the ECU, preventing drunks from starting their cars, just a simple tester to make you aware that you are over the limit. Fines for those who do not comply with start being handed out November 1.
