Under the new Major League Baseball collective bargaining agreement, the playoffs were set to be expanded to 10 teams. Instead of waiting until 2013 to enact the new rules, the league will bulk up the playoffs in 2012, according to Fox Sports. Each league will have one more wild card team, resulting in a one-and-done game between the two wild cards in each league. The winner will then move on to face the No. 1 seed in the best-of-five divisional round. Basically, it will be like the play-in games in the NCAA tournament. The change to the postseason will be the second since 1969 and the first since 1995.
