Well, this certainly explains a lot!

For years now, we've wondered what the fuck Donald Sterling has been doing with the Los Angeles Clippers. Although they're enjoying some success this season, the franchise has been a mess for a long time. Turns out, there might be a very good reason for that.

According to court documents from 2003 that were obtained by the website Sports By Brooks late last week, Sterling used to have a relationship with a woman named Alexandra Castro that he later described as a prostitute back in the early 2000s. During the course of their relationship, Castro claims that Sterling paraded her around to meet with the agents of different players, asked for her advice on hiring head coaches, and consulted her on tons of different matters directly related to the day-to-day operations of the Clippers.

"During our relationship, Mr. Sterling consulted me on issues he was considering almost every day," Castro said in a statement back in '03, "including, among others, whether he should hire Alvin Gentry to coach the Los Angeles Clippers (although I had no experience in such matters), how he should respond to requests by players for the Los Angeles Clippers for increases in their compensation (Mr. Sterling and I often had dinner at the Arena Club with agents for a number of players), whether he should be involved in a particular charity event..."

Of course, because this is the Clippers, that's not the worst part, either. During his part of the testimony during the 2003 case, Sterling did his best to explain his relationship with Castro. And by "his best," we really mean that he made himself look like a complete jackass—under oath.

"[She was] a prostitute," he said. "She was a total freak and a piece of trash...It was purely sex for money, money for sex, sex for money, money for sex. The girl was providing sex for money...I probably didn't tell my wife...maybe I did something morally wrong."

Uhhhhhhh...YA THINK? Score another fail for the Clippers as a franchise. We told you this guy was a real winner.
