FC Barcelona's Lionel Messi gave football fans yet another reason to add to the laundry list of why he is one of the best and most exciting players in the world and in history. In a 7-1 slaughter of Bayer Leverkusen in the round of 16 , Messi became the first player in the Champions League to ever score five goals in a single match. It was also the first time he'd ever scored five times in a professional game.

"Without Messi, Barca is the best team," Leverkusen coach Robin Dutt said. "And with him, they are in another galaxy."

Messi scored in the 25th, 42nd, 49th, 58th, and 84th minutes for the defending champs. We could try to describe how good this guy is, but our word means nothing compared to another world football star. Here's what Wayne Rooney had to say on the matter:

Messi is a joke. For me the best ever.

There you have it: The best ever. We're just glad he doesn't look like this anymore
