While it would be ludicrous is Apple decided to start building cars, it's not at all far fetched to think of the company engineering a serious competitor to Microsoft's automotive infotainment system. I
Steve Jobs did meet with Volkswagen in 2007 to find out what ways the two companies could work together, so this could very easily be the logical result of that meeting. Judging by the want ad that reads "Apple(China) Looking for SQE/NPI with over 4 years Mechanical engineering background familiar with CNC/die casting/stamping/plastic injection, can use APQP/ PPAP/SPC to control product quality," it looks like they need someone who can make a device fit in a car's console.
