Commissioner Gary Bettman and the National Hockey League officially announced today that the 2013 NHL Winter Classic will be played in Michigan's football stadium, the Big House, between the Detroit Red Wings and the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Big House is the largest stadium in North America and can hold 115,000 fans. After five years of existence, this will be the first time that the festivities will be split into two separate venues. The week-long celebration leading up to the game will be held at Comerica Park where the Detroit Tigers play. This also marks the first Winter Classic that will involve a Canadian-based franchise.
