Adidas followed the Chicago Bulls' lead and locked up star point guard Derrick Rose with what he is calling a "lifetime" deal. Sources have said Rose signed a 14-year deal worth $260 million with the three stripes. This comes just two months after he signed a contract with the Bulls for five years and $95 million.
"Man, it’s a blessing," Rose said. "It’s definitely a blessing. They’ve been with me since the beginning and stuck with me and I’m happy I’m a part of them for the rest of my life. They’ve been doing everything promotional-wise to make sure they put me out there, marketing me great all over the world. That’s all I needed from them."
His fourth signature shoe, the adizero Rose 2.5, came out in February and is marketed as the lightest basketball shoe on the market. Don't think all of this will change his humble approach, though.
"Not at all," he said. "I know that with the way that I play and how hard I work, I know I should be fine."
