The University of Tennessee's new $45 million, 145,000 square-foot practice facility for their football program sounds pretty sick. It's got a gigantic team meeting room, a hydro therapy room, and a large eating area. But the most interesting thing about the new facility, by far, is the weight room. Described as a "multilevel thunderdome of power" by UT's promo video for the facility, it's huge and includes all of the stuff that you'd expect to find in a gym. You know, like free weights, workout machines, and treadmills. But, it also includes one thing that most football facilities don't have: A giant mixed martial arts cage. Er, and what might that be for?

"So we can go in and fight and all that stuff," Volunteers head coach Derek Dooley told the Knoxville News Sentinel recently.

Riiiiiiight. Because having an MMA cage inside of a gym that'll house more than 100 young men on any given day doesn't sound like a disaster—or, worse, a lawsuit—waiting to happen or anything. Everything else about the facility sounds great. But, good luck with that, coach!
