When the New York Giants found out that Kyle Williams would be returning punts for the San Francisco 49ers during the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, the game plan for covering kicks became very simple: Beat the #%$! out of Kyle Williams. You see, Williams has suffered a number of concussions in the past and the Giants thought that if they delivered a couple of hard hits to the Niners wide receiver, they could rattle him and eventually force him to make a mistake. And he did, coughing up not one but two fumbles, including one in overtime that led to the game-winning field goal for the Giants.

"He's had a lot of concussions," Giants special teams player/reserve wide receiver Devin Thomas said in the aftermath of the game. "We were just like, 'We gotta put a hit on that guy.'...[Giants reserve safety Tyler] Sash did a great job hitting him early and he looked kind of dazed when he got up. I feel like that made a difference and he coughed it up."

So, was that the reason that Williams fumbled twice? Was it the reported shoulder injury he suffered? Or, is it possible that he simply wasn't at the top of his game on Sunday night? Whatever the case, it's not making any of these sick and twisted folks feel any better, now is it?
