Eight-time X Games medalist Sarah Burke is in a coma after a bad landing in the Eagle Superpipe at Park City Ski Resort in Utah. Other athletes said she landed on her feet at the bottom of the pipe and bounced onto her head. Following the crash, ski patrol treated her on the scene, she was moved to base patrol and was airlifted to University Hospital in Salt Lake City.

"Sarah is a very, very strong human and she will be fine," Burke's husband, pro skier Rory Bushfield said.

Burke, born in Midland, Ontario, was the first woman to land 720s, 900s, and 1080s in a halfpipe.  She was also instrumental to breaking women into the action skiing scene and earning freeskiing admission into the 2014 Olympics. Burke was previously injured in '09 when she broke a vertebrae in her back on a rough landing, but came back even stronger and won X Games Gold last year. We'll update you once her status becomes clearer.
