New Miami Marlins Pitcher Can't Live in Miami Because of Pitbull Ban

The new look and newly located Miami Marlins have gone on a shopping spree this offseason, picking up Jose Reyes, Carlos Zambrano, and Mark Buerhle, but at least one of their new acquisitions won't be able to live in Dade County. Buerhle, a hunting enthusiast and dog-lover who said he wished Michael Vick had gotten hurt during last year's NFL playoffs, owns a pitbull, but the breed has been banned in Miami-Dade County since 1989. He has said his family will live in neighboring Broward County, which, ironically enough, is where the Marlins used to play, before they moved to downtown Miami.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/end-pitbull-ban/ Help educate Miami-Dade about this unnecessary ban. CDC and Veterinary Associations oppose breed-specific bans, and this one ignores the valuable benefits of Pit Bulls.

"He has said his family will live in neighboring Broward County, which, ironically enough, is where the Marlins used to play, before they moved to downtown Miami." That's not true. Sun Life Stadium is located in Miami-Dade County (not Broward) at NW 199th St & NW 27th Ave. Although it is very close to Broward County (which starts at NW 215th Street--County Line Road), no part of the stadium is in Broward County. And the Marlins have never played in Broward County.
