Siiiiiiigh. It sounds like Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have done it to us again. Just a week after Money May gave us some hope of a fight between the two actually happening in May by calling Pacman out on Twitter, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum has come out and said that Pacquiao has already chosen his next opponent—and that it's not Mayweather. Rather, it's going to be either Juan Manuel Marquez, Timothy Bradley, Miguel Cotto, or Lamont Peterson. Arum also reiterated that the May 5th fight date that Floyd chose for a Mayweather/Pacquiao fight isn't feasible, given the fact that a 38,000-seat temporary facility will need to be constructed in order to house the match.
"To be safe, [construction officials] said they needed until the end of May to get it done," Arum told Sports Illustrated yesterday. "Economically, it's a problem that Floyd created. The amount that would be lost by moving it up to May 5th is enormous. The fight is not going to happen May 5th. We'll do the fight in November. There is no real magic in doing it in May."
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah...whatever. We're over it. Let us know when you've got something other than a bunch of excuses to announce.
