How'd your portfolio do last year? Up 40% you say? Well, congratulations you're in the same rarefied investing air as L.A. Lakers owner Jerry Buss (we'll just assume your initial investment wasn't the same though).
Forbes has released their list of the most valuable franchises in the NBA, and the Lakers claimed the top spot after growing 40% in the past year to land at $900 million. The Lakers growth is attributed to a TV deal they recently signed that will pay them $200 million a year for the next 20 years. The previous most valuable franchise, the Knicks, come in second at $790 million, followed by the Bulls ($600 million), Mavs ($497 million), and Celtics ($482). Bringing up the rear? The Bucks, at $268 million.
