Have you been wondering which auto makers are the most gay friendly? If you have you're in luck as the annual Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Corporate Equality Index has been released. In the index the HRC ranks Fortune 1000 companies, American Lawyer's top 200 firms, and any private sector employer with at least 500 employees. As a result, some companies like Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, and Mazda are not rated as they do not have a large enough presence in the USA and did not elect to be rated. The ratings are as follows:

  • Ford: 100
  • Chrysler: 100
  • Toyota: 100
  • Volkswagen: 90 (improving HR programs would bump it up)
  • Subaru: 85 (Offering soft benefits like bereavement leave for domestic partners is needed)
  • GM: 85 (No medical benefits for domestic partners, but everything else is good)
  • Nissan: 30 (Non-discrimination policy and little else)
  • Penske Automotive: 0

There you have it; the best places for GLBT auto professionals to work.
