We understand that the Giants and Jets have a natural rivalry. Since both hail from New York City—or, technically, northern New Jersey—there's some animosity expressed by both sides whenever they play. But things have gotten a little out of hand this week in the days leading up to their matchup on Saturday. Earlier this week, Victor Cruz revealed that teams aren't afraid of Darrelle Revis anymore. Then, Rex Ryan discounted Tom Coughlin's notion that "talk is cheap." Bart Scott said that the Meadowlands in going to be a "death ground" on Saturday. And, to top things off, the Jets put a picture of a bloody Eli Manning on the cover of their playbooks! They did it because the photo comes from a preseason game last year in which Manning got busted upside his head by Jets linebacker Calvin Pace, which caused his head to gush blood.
Ah, nothing says, "Happy holidays!" like a bloody battle between two teams that don't like each other very much. And if this week is any indication, it sounds like that's exactly what we're going to get on Christmas Eve.
