With just three days left before the start of the 2011-12 NBA season, it's time to let the shit talking begin! So, right on cue, Amar'e Stoudemire opened his big mouth yesterday and told the New York Post that he and his Knicks teammates are ready to go hunting for the Heat this season. And he even provided a pretty awkward gun-related analogy to help him prove his point.
"We're going to hunt in South Florida," he said. "You know what we're going to hunt down there, right? We're going to hunt LeBron and D-Wade. I got the rifle, man."
Um, okay? We don't know if now is the time to take aim at the Heat (see what we did there?), especially since it's the Celtics, not the Heat, who are coming to the Garden on Sunday. But we applaud Amar'e for getting the trash talk going earlier than usual this year. Just don't let David Stern hear you talking about guns, son...
