It’s said that the quarterback is the toughest position to play in sports—and the guys on this list give you a good idea why. Most of them had the tools to succeed in the NFL: height, cannon arms, even speed, but something—bad coaching, contract holdouts, just being dumb as a bag of rocks—held them back. A football team is usually only as good as its quarterback, and, with a few notable exceptions, these quarterbacks' teams weren't very good. If you're a longtime NFL fan, chances are a few of these guys have broken your heart already. Here are the 50 Worst Quarterbacks* in NFL History.
*Minimum 8 starts. So Andre Ware, Dan McGwire, and Kim McQuilken can rest easy. You were such failures they wouldn't even let you fail any more!

Dan Orlovsky is lucky he only has 7 starts or one play alone would have gotten him up to at least 15th. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EZrpEdc0ZQ

Good list, but you didn't go back far enough! What about those really bad expansion teams (Bucs) who had Steve Supurier, Terry Hanratty, and many others? What about Garo? I would think that anyone who had a career of more than 5 years as a starter can't be in this list, since there are so many others to pick from who had a 'cup of coffee' in the league over the years.

Rick Mirer was not traded for a 4th round pick. He was traded to Chicago WITH a 4th round pick for Chicago's 1st round pick in '97.

Yeah, and to add insult to injury the Seahawks used that pick on Walter Jones, one he best LTs of all time

Fact check: Matt Leinart WAS offered the job in Seattle. He turned it down to stay in Houston, saying that he was happy in their system and with the staff. Can you really blame him for skipping out on the Seahawks? It was either stay in Houston as a backup and maybe make the playoffs; go to Seattle and to be the fall guy (unfairly) for a team that needs a lot of help aside from the quarterback position.

When I saw Ryan Leaf at number 2, I only naturally assumed that he was number 2 with the Cowboys and number 1 with the Chargers. He deserves 2 spots on this list. I am a Cowboys fan and saw him in a game against the Eagles. By the time I could go to the Texas Stadium bathroom and take a leak and return to my seat, he had thrown 2 TD's to linebackers! RYAN LEAF is the worst tackler on the list - and he missed many!

what about Carson Palmer? If you're going to put Trent Dilfer (who won a superbowl) in the list, you need to put Carson Palmer who hasn't won in the playoffs!

No Art Schlichter? The guy who was terrible in college (he threw the interception that made Woody Hayes punch a player in the throat, ending his great coaching career) and the pros, and did the Colts a favor when he got banned from the league for gambling? I think he deserves to at least crack the top 50. Also, if Super Bowl winning quarterbacks aren't safe from being on this list, and the Raiders have a history of bad QBs, I think Ken Stabler needs to be on here. Just look at the stats: 194 touchdowns, 222 interceptions. Another Raiders Super Bowl winner who was awful: Jim Plunkett. 164 touchdowns, 198 interceptions, and a career rating of 67.5

I thought that Todd Marinovich would certainly top the list - he's the only that could make Ryan Leaf look good on & off the field.

Exactly! Marinovich should be on the list somewhere at least.

Give Reaves credit, he creates hot daughters cuz Kiffen's wife is smoking. Why is there a picture of Matt Schaub leading into this list?
