Kobe Bryant Wishes He Could Play Alongside Carmelo Anthony

We're not really sure why Kobe Bryant picked now as the right time to say that he wishes he could play on the same team as Carmelo Anthony. Is he planning on asking for a trade to the Knicks? Is 'Melo already tired of playing in New York? Do they both know something we don't about the NBA lockout? But, at any rate, KB24 was recently asked about the possibility of playing with 'Melo one day (which is, in a word, impossible!) and this is what he had to say.

"I would actually like to play with 'Melo," he said. "Championships are won on the inside and I'm always thinking about winning the title. I would love to play with 'Melo because I would know that I have an inside presence. That's really been the biggest strength with our Lakers team. We have a lot of guys who can play in the post, and that's how you win championships...Teams are usually lucky if they have one guy that can control the block. But, yeah, I would love to play with 'Melo."

Um, okay. Maybe you should have said that during this interview then instead of waiting 'til 'Melo settled down in the Big Apple, huh? [via Lakers Nation]
