Albert Biermann told Inside Line that BMW's M wants to build a car from the ground up, no doubt spurred on by the SLS AMG. He says "From an engineering perspective we have the skills and we'd love to do it... We've discussed it several times but we've never been able to make the business case. Everything we do has to make money."
There you have it, BMW wants to make what would probably be an M1 successor, but they need to make a business case for it first.
