With the season approaching the quarter pole, we asked Joe for his take on the top three teams in the league:
1. Green Bay Packers
"They’ve beaten Chicago, who I deem a contender. They’ve shown consistency. They have a healthy Jermichael Finley back, whom they didn’t have when they won the Super Bowl. They’re running game is stronger. They look to me to be better than the team that won last year. By far, the most complete 53 in the league."
2. Baltimore Ravens
"I like the Ravens. Haven’t seen enough from Pitt. Not likin what I’m seeing from the Jets, not New England. I can’t see a reason that Baltimore is not a top 3 team in the league right now."
3. New Orleans Saints
"I have to say the Siants. Listen, the only game they lost was the shootout against Green Bay and that game could have gone either way. They are a much improved team from when they won it. They have great receivers, granted health is an issue, but I love love love Drew Brees and Darren Sproles and what they are doin’. It’s all up to the Saints defense. And honestly, if it’s a shootout, I’m picking the Saints over about anybody. The Saints in a shootout over New England. The shootout guys to me are Tom Brady, Phillip Rivers and Aaron Rodgers. I pick the Saints in a shootout over each of them, even though they lost with Green Bay."
And now for Week 4: the undefeated Detroit Lions (not a typo!) head to Dallas for a 1 o'clock kick-off Sunday, the Patriots go west to take on the surprising 2-1 Raiders in Oakland, Rex Ryan takes the Jets to Baltimore to face his old team, the Ravens, on Sunday night, and the Peyton-less Colts travel to Tampa to visit the Bucs.
Last Week: 1-3
