The future of commercial airlines is almost at hand. Lockheed Martin is currently engineering the Stratoliner Hydrogen Jet conceived by William Brown which boasts some very impressive advancements in commercial air travel. Firstly, the jet will be able to fly anywhere in the world without making a single stop to refuel. The ability to make such long trips is made possible by the jet's oversized wings which generate extra lift. Interestingly enough, the inspiration for the airplane is the Bar Tailed Godwit, the bird with the record for longest non-stop flight - 7,258 miles. Secondly, the four Cryogenic Hydrogen Turbofan engines on board power the aircraft without releasing an carbon emissions that harm the environment.
