The "guarantee" has become the most overrated thing in pro sports. Everyone is making them, so we really don't put too much stock into them anymore. But they're still pretty newsworthy, especially when they're coming from guys who have absolutely no business making them. Case in point: Ron Artest telling the world recently that he guarantees the Lakers will win the NBA title in 2012.
"Win it all," Artest told ESPN's Stephen A. Smith recently. "Win the whole thing. That's a guarantee."
Riiiiiiiiiight. And after watching you in the playoffs last season, we guarantee you won't. Now, who's right? If the NBA lockout doesn't end soon, we'll probably never know. [via Pro Basketball Talk]
