Larry Merchant Thinks Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Would Beat Manny Pacquiao

Surprised? So are we.

None

Considering their history and what happened on Saturday night, you'd think that Larry Merchant would pick Manny Pacquiao to beat Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in a fight solely because, well, he has to feel some type of way about Money May after all the shit he talked to him following his victory over Victor Ortiz. But, as it turns out, you'd be wrong. The HBO boxing broadcaster appeared on ESPN Radio Los Angeles earlier this week—just days after telling Mayweather that he'd kick his ass if he was 50 years younger—and talked about who he'd pick to win in a hypothetical fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao. And his answer was definitely surprising.

"Well, Pacquiao has a fight in two months," he said. "I think Mayweather would be the favorite because he's a wizard of defense and a defensive wizard is hard to beat because he's taking fewer risks and leaves fewer openings for opponents to fill."

Hmmm...Interesting. Kudos to you for being the bigger man here, Larry. Now if only this Mayweather/Pacquiao fight would actually happen... [via Off The Bench]
