Can you imagine Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant playing on the same team? According to KG, it almost happened back in 2007. But because of some internal turmoil on the Lakers, he instead opted to sign with the Celtics to try and get his first championship ring and, well, the rest is history.
"I was pretty close, to be honest," Garnett said recently. "What disturbed me about the whole Lakers situation was Kobe [Bryant] and Phil [Jackson] at the time. They were at each other pretty bad, and it was a new situation I didn't want to get into...It was my choice, yeah. There was a lot going on and I didn't want to be a part of it."
SMH. You could have eight rings right now, Kobe! Oh well. We guess everything worked out for the best. [via Boston Globe]
