What some people have feared will come to pass; the next M3 will be powered by a six cylinder engine. The good news is that it isn't just a tuned version of one of the existing sixers, it's going to be different and developed just for M cars. Numbers like 450hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque are getting thrown around too. That extra torque should really help the M3 out, even though it didn't need it.
