This is not a normal Mercury. While that is obvious due to the idiotic looking mess of PVC pipes, what isn't obvious is the fuel source. Wood pellets are fermented in a 2,400 degree furnace and then the gasses from the furnace are burned in a Ford V8. It apparently even has an output that is very close to the normal, gas-burning Merc. The best part, however, is that the designer calls this the Mercury Beaver XR-7.
