After spending the first two years at Nebraska struggling to crack the starting lineup, Prince Amukamara continued working hard with the hopes that one day he would get his chance to shine. Finally getting that opportunity in his junior year, Prince didn’t disappoint. In 2009, he became a first-team All-Big 12 selection. Returning for his senior year, he got even better and was named Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.
As of last night, Amukamara is the newest member of the New York Giants after being selected with the 19th pick in the NFL Draft. Before his big day at Radio City, we got with Prince at his Alan David Custom suit fitting with Conversion Sports to see how Complex he really is.

What’s your favorite song at the moment?
Prince Amukamara: My favorite song at the moment would have to be…I don’t know. There are a lot of songs that I listen to that keep me calm, and there are a lot of songs that get me hyped. Right now, though, a song that gets me jumping would probably be “6 Foot 7 Foot” by Lil Wayne.
What are your favorite sneakers to wear?
Prince Amukamara: I love wearing adidas. I’m actually endorsed by adidas. They’re very comfortable, and very light. It feels like you’re not walking on anything.
What’s the most money you ever spent on an item of clothing?
Prince Amukamara: Nothing. I’ve been getting a lot of stuff for free. I can’t think of anything right now.
What celebrity is in your Wifey Hall of Fame?
Prince Amukamara: Oh man. It would have to be Hayden Panettiere. Or Lauren Conrad from The Hills. And I’m liking Jennifer Nettles, the lead singer from Sugarland.
Out of those three, who would you say is number one?
Prince Amukamara: Lauren Conrad from The Hills.
What is it that you like about her?
Prince Amukamara: It seems like I know her just by watching her, ever since she was on Laguna Beach to The Hills and stuff like that. I like her personality. I think we would click.
What is your opinion on Odd Future?
Prince Amukamara: I haven’t heard of them.
Favorite alcoholic drink?
Prince Amukamara: I never drank in my life.
Favorite non-alcoholic beverage?
Prince Amukamara: Shirley Temple. Regularly, I just drink water and Gatorade.
Current video game obsession?
Prince Amukamara: Right now, I’m playing the new Fight Night a lot. I think that’s about it.
Which boxer do you normally play as in the game?
Prince Amukamara: Muhammad Ali.
Is there anybody that’s not the greatest ever that you compete as?
Prince Amukamara: No. I like using the best person that’s in the game. When NCAA Football 11 came out, I used Florida all the time ‘cause they were the best team.
Dream ride?
Prince Amukamara: Man, I used to really like the G Wagon by Mercedes. And I wanted to put Matte Black on it. I never had a car in college. Now, I like preserving gas ‘cause I hate filling the tank up, so I might just get a Prius or something.
Coveted tech product?
Prince Amukamara: I’m always on my cellphone. I love to text. I have a BlackBerry. I love to BBM too.
Favorite city to visit?
Prince Amukamara: It might have to be New York City after this trip, but it seems a little too fast for me. So, it would probably be LA.
Favorite campus, other than your own?
Prince Amukamara: Besides Nebraska, it would have to be Missouri.
What does it feel like to know you’ll be a millionaire soon?
Prince Amukamara: I haven’t really grasped the fact yet. Like I said, I just take everything day by day. I know when I do sign the contract, even though the money’s not going to change me, there are a lot of guilty pleasures that I will probably satisfy.
Could you name one?
Prince Amukamara: I love shopping, so I would probably go crazy on clothes.
Who is the most famous person in your cellphone?
Prince Amukamara: Ndamukong Suh, my former teammate.
Is there a famous person that you hope to have in your phone in the next year?
Prince Amukamara: Lauren Conrad. [Laughs.]
