In three seasons at the University of Alabama, Marcell Dareus and the Crimson Tide went 36-5 and won a national championship (Dareus was the MVP of that game). Buffalo Bills fans hope Marcell brings his winning ways north with him. Last night the Bills selected Dareus third overall in the NFL Draft, and they're banking on the defensive tackle leading a revamped franchise back to glory in the ever-competitive AFC East.
What’s your favorite song at the moment?
Marcell Dareus: I like that Chris Brown, “Look at Me Now” with Busta Rhymes. It doesn’t really matter, though. I just like music.
What are your favorite sneakers to wear?
Marcell Dareus: I love shell-toe Adidas. I like Polo boots, just anything that’s comfortable on my feet.
What’s the most money you ever spent on an item of clothing?
Marcell Dareus: Man, I don’t spend a whole lot. I stay with Levi’s on and the most I’ve spent on a shirt is probably $60. Some Levi’s, a nice shirt and some kicks, you good.
What celebrity is in your Wifey Hall of Fame?
Marcell Dareus: Hoopz from Flavor of Love. Oh man, the girl from The Player’s Club, man...LisaRaye.
What is your opinion on Odd Future?
Marcell Dareus: I’m from the South, from a small state, as far as getting music and clothes, it’s slow. Takes awhile for us to hear it. I like Yo Gotti, Plies, Rick Ross, Ace Hood, Gucci. I like Trey Songz, Musiq Soulchild, Anthony Hamilton. A lot of old school R&B too.
Favorite alcoholic drink?
Marcell Dareus: I like Nuvo and Goose.
Current video game obsession?
Marcell Dareus: Nah, I don’t play no games. Only game I play is on the field. [Laughs.]
Marcell Dareus: I always wanted an H1 Hummer. The first Army edition jump-off. I’m on that one already, looking for it.
Coveted tech product?
Marcell Dareus: The iPad, the iPhone...all that stuff, man, I’m on it. Projectors phones and all that.
Favorite city to visit?
Marcell Dareus: Atlanta, in the Georgia Dome. Man, it was wild. The stadium, the city. Everybody out there shows love and we have a great time.
Who is the most famous person in your cellphone?
Marcell Dareus: [Laughs.] Warren Sapp, Michael Irvin, Steve Mariucci, [Alabama] Governor [Steve] Bentley.
What does it feel like to know you’ll be a millionaire soon?
Marcell Dareus: Man, the struggle is finally over. We’ve been counting down. Went from 12 months away, to 6 months, to 4, to 2. Now it’s here.
