Is this the second Kansas City Royals reference we've made on the Sports channel today? Why, yes it is! This time, it's because KC closer Joakim Soria (a beast on the mound, by the way) has told the press that he will no longer be going by his nickname, "The Mexicutioner." His reason? He's from Mexico and, well, in case ya haven't heard, Mexico's got its fair share of drug violence right now (just two days ago, we actually wrote about how Mexican officials are trying to ban a video game that glorifies the violence in Mexico). Soria feels it's in poor taste to use a nickname with violent undertones. So, cool as it is, consider it dead. *closes down Royals news feed* [via ESPN]
