Short for Subaru Tecnica International, the STI division was formed to dominate the WRC, the premier rally series (think X-Games Rally, only global and much more challenging). On its first generation out, the turbocharged flat-4 motor-equipped STI did precisely that, winning the Constructors' Championship in 1997, 1996, and 1995, the latter in which the late Colin McRae took the Driver's Championship.
