We know the M56 S is supposed to be a luxury sport sedan, but we feel it's more sport than luxury. Not that that's a bad thing. The model we tested came equipped with the $3,650 sport package which includes, among other things, a firmer version of its independent sport suspension, a 4-Wheel Active Steer system for better cornering, and sport brakes with R SPEC High Friction brake pads for longer lasting brake bite. Oh, and some paddle shifters to better shift the 7-speed transmission. All of that amounts to a car that isn't afraid to wrestle with a corner. We say opt for the rear-wheel drive version—you'll have a lot more fun twisting through mountain road. The traction control can be a bit intrusive, but it saved our asses more than once, reminding us that this is indeed a luxury sport sedan.
