The 2010 Complex NFL Midseason Awards

With assorted bye weeks and Thursday night games, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact halfway point of the NFL season—but fuck it, we’re calling it right now. It’s been a crazy year, to say the least, with a slew of jaw-dropping moments: amazing plays (Randy Moss' one-handed catch), SMH decisions (Shanny taking out McNabb), comical FAILs (Cowboys!), and, of course, Brett Favre Dong. Before we move into the second half of the season, we have a few awards to dole out, in categories ranging from Best Soundbite to Hardest Hit to Best Michael Vick Highlight. So, take a break from rearranging your fantasy roster and peep The Complex 2010 NFL Midseason Awards...

Winner: Barry Cofield (New York Giants)

Game: Week 4 - Chicago Bears @ New York Giants

Complex says: This year, WRs and RBs have been slacking a little when it comes to end zone dances. Seriously, how many times can you see a grown man hit the Dougie and be entertained? (Answer: A fucking lot.) But out of nowhere, during a Sunday night game, Giants DT Barry Cofield got a sack, popped up, and performed what we now refer to as the "Don't Taze Me Bro!" dance. Watch out T.Ocho, the big man's coming for the throne.

Winner: Dunta Robinson (Atlanta Falcons)

Game: Week 6 - Atlanta Falcons @ Philadelphia Eagles

Complex says: Head-on-head collisions have been a talking point all season, but no hit was as violent as this one. Not only did the hittee, DeSean Jackson, get completely annihilated, but the hitter, Robinson, also went down for the count—kinda like the Rocky-Apollo Creed double KO. Luckily, both guys made full recoveries. Praise the heavens, 'cause losing DeSean in fantasy would've really hurt.

Winner: Randy Moss (New England Patriots)

Game: Week 2 - New England Patriots @ New York Jets

Complex says: It was a tough decision between this or Tony Moeaki's one-handed grab, but the fact that Moss made it look so effortless swung the ballot his way. He was sipping mojitos on Revis Island that Sunday. Crazy that Moss is on his third team since then!

Winner: Mike Shanahan (Washington Redskins)

Game: Week 8 - Washington Redskins @ Detroit Lions

Complex says: OK, let's see: Trade draft picks for a big-name franchise QB, herald the move as a return to respectability for your franchise, then inexplicably bench him in Week 8 in favor of a career scrub. And then—two weeks later—sign him to a monster $78 million contract. WTF, Shanny (and Danny Snyder)?!?! Par for the course for that once proud organization.

Winner: Nate Clements (San Francisco 49ers)

Game: Week 4 - San Francisco 49ers @ Atlanta Falcons

Complex says: The 49ers were projected to win the NFC West, but fucked their chances by losing their first five games. The shitty part is that three of those first five could've been Ws, including the Falcons game, when CB Clements fumbled away this potential game-sealing interception. Of course, the Falcons recovered and went on to kick a game-winning FG at the death. Wow, Roddy White is a beast on offense AND defense this season.

Winner: Randy Moss (Minnesota Vikings)

Game: Week 8 - Minnesota Vikings @ New England Patriots

Complex says: The clip above feels like some kind of farewell speech, and it would turn out to be—Moss was waived by Minnesota just days later. We love Randy (and his badass moments) for the simple fact that he keeps it real all the time. After the league slapped him with a fine for not talking to the media, Moss announced that, henceforth, he would only interview himself. Eat that, Goodell.

Winner: Referee Gene Steratore

Game: Week 1 - Detroit Lions @ Chicago Bears

Complex says: Yes, we know: If you have a virgin-tight interpretation of the rulebook, this is technically not a catch. But c'mon, fam: Megatron made a beastly, unbelievably clutch grab. How amazing would have it been for the Lions to win their season opener like this? This call basically condemned Detroit to another season of suckitude.

Winner: Tony Romo (Dallas Cowboys)

Game: Week 7 - New York Giants @ Dallas Cowboys

Complex says: Honestly, the Cowboys could receive a shelf-load of FAIL trophies, but we had to narrow it down to one: when Romo got hit and didn't get back up again. We would never cheer an athlete injury, especially one as serious as a fractured clavicle, but... YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! HAHAHAHA! YEAAAAAAAAH!

Winner: Peyton Hillis (Cleveland Browns)

Game: Week 4 - Cincinnati Bengals @ Cleveland Browns

Complex says: The white RB is back! Major FAIL to the Broncos for trading this dude for Brady Quinn. Don't try to arm-tackle Hillis, homes. You will get trucked.

Winner: Michael Vick (Philadelphia Eagles)

Game: Week 10 - Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins

Complex says: Vick's total ethering of the Skins on MNF so reminded us of this, it's unbelievable.

Winner: Brett Favre (Minnesota Vikings)

Complex says: Thank you, Favre Dong, for inspiring the names of millions of fantasy football teams next year. Favre Dong will live forever. Favre Dong, we salute you.
