Why It Didn't Suck: Looking to compete with the influx of compact, fuel-efficient, Japanese performance cars, Chrysler cooked up a deal with Mitsubishi to create Diamond Star Motors (DSM). Under DSM, the two companies would share designs and engineering on a number of models, the most popular being the Eclipse, Talon, and Laser. The hatchback sports coupe came in a number of trim levels, the best of which boasted a Mitsubishi-sourced turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
