WHY IT WAS SO HARD: Tejada pleaded guilty to lying to Congress about his steroid use and faced up to one year in federal prison and deportation. However this tearful confession resulted in Miguel only receiving a year of probation. Tejada knew shedding tears in public would be a little more embarrassing but a lot less painful then shedding them in the pen.
