The classic Nike Air Alpha Force Low is scheduled to return to retailers this year, according to a Nike document that was viewed by Complex. News of the sneaker’s return was initially reported by Sole Retriever last week.

According to the document, the Nike Air Alpha Force Low will release this year in its original “White/University Red-Black” colorway along with several new makeups of the shoe. The 1988 model, designed by industry veteran Tinker Hatfield, features a leather upper and a forefoot strap for stability.

On the court, the Air Alpha Force Low was notable for being worn by Michael Jordan in January ‘88. He laced up the Air Alpha Force Low during a regular season matchup between the Chicago Bulls and the New York Knicks on Jan. 29.

Per the document viewed by Complex, the Alpha Force is slated to release in Nike’s Fall/Winter lineup, possibly as soon as July, although, the release period is subject to change. Nike has not confirmed the Alpha Force Low retro.

UPDATE (07/03): Nike has officially confirmed the return of the Air Alpha Force this year, with the original "University Red" colorway returning on July 15 via SNKRS and at select Nike Sportswear retailers for $140.
