A Kansas nonprofit that specializes in providing footwear to the homeless and less fortunate was hit with a major setback last week.

According to The Topeka Capital-Journal, Sole Reason had been raising money to open an office space—$1,600 of which was stolen from a car on Monday, Aug. 6. And while the landlord of the building Sole Reason planned to rent has reportedly been understanding of the situation and agreed to work out a payment plan, the organization is seeking help from the community to get back on its feet.

The charity hopes to use its office space not only for day to day operations, but to create a shoe closet that will give kids the feeling of shopping in a sneaker store.

"We just want to help kids participate in school activities and feel confident," Sole Reason executive director Andrea Ard told Sole Collector.

For those who want to lend a hand, a Facebook fundraiser with a goal of $2,000 has been established to help the nonprofit recoup the funds.
