Police Officer Buys Homeless Man Shoes

A police officer from Pocatello, Idaho has received an award from the American Red Cross after he bought new shoes for a homeless man over the holidays.

East Idaho News reports that officer Kenny McClure has been named a "East Idaho Real Hero" after what he says was an easy decision. "He just kind of wanted to get on his way but I was like, ‘I can’t just let you walk off without any shoes,'" McClure told the station.

But what might have been an easy decision wasn't necessarily an easy task. The homeless man wore a size 14, which the officer was eventually able to track down at a local store.

Last week, McClure was chosen by the American Red Cross as one of 11 recipients of its Spirit of the Red Cross Award.

"I don't think I could have turned away from helping somebody that needed help," McClure said.
