2017 marks 40 years since a designer and inventor, Frank Rudy, told Phil Knight about a way to put air bags inside shoes. The technology was patented by Nike and quickly revolutionised sneakers, becoming most associated with the legendary Nike Air Max which first dropped back in 1987. For the first time ever, Nike have given a look inside the Nike Air Innovation facility in Oregon, and made a short film showing the process behind the technology that has gone into silhouettes from the Air Max to the Jordan, and now the VaporMax.
