Without a doubt, this year's NBA Finals is one that will go down in history. Game 6 was filled with blocked shots followed up with trash talk by LeBron James, Stephen Curry fouling out, throwing his mouthpiece and getting ejected, and Ayesha Curry claiming that the NBA is rigged. The Cleveland Cavaliers forced a Game 7, where they took home the championship in memorable fashion.
Aside from being a place where records are broken and dreams are either realized or shattered, the NBA Finals is also stage for the latest and greatest in performance basketball footwear. Players lace up signature sneakers and PEs that sometimes incorporate gold accents as a nod to the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy. While there was much criticism on Stephen Curry's "Chef" 2 Low off the court, he stuck with the high top Curry 2 wearing several PEs and the "Back 2 Back MVP" colorway. While Klay Thompson rocked his "Back to Back" Anta KT1s with some wishful thinking, it was Nike Basketball that stole the show (on the court at least).
In addition to players on each team wearing multiple PE colorways of the HyperRev 2016 and Hyperdunk, Nike's signature athletes—LeBron James and Kyrie Irving— had the biggest appearances on the court. Moving away from James' signature line, the Nike LeBron Zoom Soldier 10 is getting some well deserved attention with a Championship option on NIKEiD starting tomorrow, June 21.
