One Person Is Dead After a Shooting At a North Carolina Sneaker Store

With a year that's already been full with sneaker violence, comes another tragedy taking place in front of a sneaker shop during Christmas Eve. One person is dead today after a shooting took place at Journeys in the Northlake Mall in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

According to witnesses, this incident took place during a busy day at the mall, full with last minute Christmas shoppers. CNN spoke with store manager Shauntelle Hamrick, who recalled the altercation that led to the shooting and death. "A group of people 'ganged up' on a man. During the fight, someone pulled a gun, and a friend of the man was shot," reports CNN. The fatal shot came from off-duty police officer who was in the area and shot the armed suspect. Details about what started the altercation have not been revealed, but regardless of the reasoning, this is an unfortunate situation that we've seen far too many of recently.
