Hender Scheme is back with a brand new model, but it might not be what you're expecting.

The Japanese brand, which has carved out a niche with its intricate recreations of classic sneakers, has just introduced the 2015 model from its new "Essence" collection. At first glance, it's clear that this isn't as obvious of a homage as we've seen in the past, and despite a handful of familiar design cues, is actually a completely new design.

For starters, the base of the sneaker takes on a New Balance retro runner shape and build, but that's where the similarities end. From there, the upper's covered in a three layer wrap that also serves as support for the laces — think of it as Hender Scheme's beefed up take on Nike Flywire technology. Meanwhile, there's also a detachable flap at the tongue that's reminiscent of the adidas Micropacer and the lace shrouds found on soccer boots.

If you're feeling this latest offering from Hender Scheme, it's available now from Union for $968. Check back to find out what else the brand has in store, as this collection is already looking extremely promising.
