If you're a sneakerhead, or someone with expensive taste in fire alphets, then rain and/or messy things/food/people are probably your idea of a nightmare. At least, we know that's true for us at Complex. Sure, dry cleaning is pretty good, and baby wipes can work okay on your sneakers, but come on, there's nothing quite like prevention rather than cure, right? Step forward Liquiproof.

The young company, founded by experimental scientist Caner Veli, began with a formula that protected kicks from liquid and stains; all forms of liquid would simply bead up and roll off the surface of your precious sneakers. And using that formula, Veli has created a second form of Liquiproof, that can be used to protect clothes, as well as kicks. Now tell me that isn't a life saver?

The solution works by bonding SiO2 particles to the individual fibres of the fabric, creating permanent bonded layers which forms an invisible barrier between the fabric surface and whatever is trying to ruin it. The spray can be used on pretty much anything, even suede, and carpets without being extortionately expensive—thanks to the permanent nature of the formula—or affecting the look, feel, or breathability of the fabrics. In other words, it's the shit when it comes to protecting some of your most prized possessions. It's also 100% eco-friendly, non-hazardous, and non-toxic, so you don't need to worry about using it around kids or animals. Bonus.

Check out the video above to see the formula in action, and hit selected stockists like Office to buy some. It's worth it.
