Houston rapper Maxo Kream's name has been bubbling since the top of the year, but unless you've been following his recent movements on Instagram, you may not realize that he's also a seasoned sneakerhead.
Taking time out from promoting his Maxo 187 mixtape, the young H-Town native sat down with Nice Kicks to talk about growing up as a sneakerhead in the City of Syrup.
According to Maxo, the scene has exploded in recent years: "I remember going to Sneaker Summit back in '07 when it was the Engine Room with a couple tables and Dom Kennedy and The Nice Guys would come out and perform. Now, they've got A$AP Rocky and Teyana Taylor out there and they're having it at Reliant Arena and the Toyota Center."
The rapper also admitted that while he's passionate about sneakers, he's not above making a buck off his kicks. "Basically, we had a little sneaker flea market. I had my merchandise there... We cleaned house in like the first four hours. We had the Yeezys, 'Titanium' XX3s, 'Mork & Mindy' Dunks, 'Dr. Doom' Foamposites, 'South Beach' LeBron 8s and 9s, "Bred" XIs from the Countdown Pack... We had heat," Maxo told Nice Kicks.
