Boston-based Saucony Originals have had the collaboration on lock, with some its recent work. For the latest collaborative effort from the brand, they've chosen to partner with fellow Massachusetts brand Penfield on a pack of trail-ready versions of Saucony's Shadow Originals, delivered in three colourways. The pack is named '60/40' after Penfield's windproof and water resistant 60/40 cotton-nylon material that's used throughout most of their apparel collections.
The upper is constructed of the 60/40 material (after a raid on the Penfield fabric archive), and sits alongside a mix of suede and mesh, balancing the need for ruggedness and durability, with the desire for sneakers that look damn good. The combination of materials gives the pack a fully winterised look and feel, and each sneaker is finished with rope laces and a D-ring lace loop to further accentuate the outdoors feel. The Shadow Original silhouette will be offered in 3 colours (Wheat, Khaki and Navy) with contrasting coloured branding and the Penfield woven label replacing the usual Saucony logo on the tongue.
