Damian Lillard took to Instagram last week and debuted his first ever signature shoe via a 4 Bar Friday. The Trail Blazers superstar took a modern approach when unveiling the D Lillard 1, but many people were wondering why the shoes were not equipped with Boost foam, adidas' prized cushioning technology. Well now we have our answer.

The launch of the D Rose 5 marks the first time adidas used full-length Boost foam in their basketball shoes. With Lillard's signature scheduled to drop next year, why wouldn't adidas outfit their next big star with all the latest and greatest. Apparently the choice wasn't from adidas end, but rather from Lillard who believes the addition of Boost foam would of made the sneakers too expensive for his liking.

“The shoe would have been, I think, a lot more expensive,” Lillard explained. “I think like $50 or $60 more expensive and I didn’t want it to be that way. I wanted it to be at a reasonable price, especially for my first shoe. The crowd that I really want to be able to wear my shoe, I want them to be able to afford it.”

Sure, having a price point that many more people can afford is a major plus for any sneaker release, but having the premier technology is equally as important. With other Boost enabled shoes on the market like the D Rose 5 and the Crazy Light Boost, will people sacrifice the performance aspect to save a couple bucks? We're not saying that the D Lillard 1 won't be a great on the court shoe, but missing out on the brands prized technology could leave much to be desired from avid players.

Let us know what you think about Lillard not wanting Boost technology on his signature shoes, and keep an eye out for the D Lillard 1 as they're scheduled to drop early 2015.
