After 16-straight victorious matches at the WTA Finals, someone has finally taken down Serena Williams.

Romanian Simona Halep did the unthinkable by disposing of Serena in just 65 minutes by the score of 6-0, 6-2 at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global. The highlight of the match was Halep's opening set in which she held Williams to just seven points. So what was Halep's choice of footwear for her career-defning victory so far? That would be the adidas adizero CC Tempia III, the same shoe worn by her next round robbin opponent Ana Ivanovic.

The defeat was Williams' worst loss since 1998 when she was defeated 6-1, 6-1 by Joanette Kruger in Oklahoma City. Despite withdrawing from the China Open earlier this month, Williams did not attribute the loss to fitness reasons, instead crediting her opponent for a well-fought match.

"It's the biggest match in my life, so I can't put into words how I feel right now. I feel very happy! I just want to enjoy it," Halep said. "It was always my dream to beat one of the Williams sisters, but of course without the help of the crowd I wouldn't have been able to play this way today."

Head over to adidas to pick up a pair of Halep's adizero CC Tempia III and keep it with Sneaker Report for all your tennis gear news.
