Well this is a big blow for tennis. Reigning U.S. Open champ and world No. 2 Rafael Nadal has pulled out of the tournament due to an injured right wrist. Nadal has not competed since his fourth-round exit at Wimbledon back on July 1. Nadal, who sustained the injury while training on July 29, had wished to recover before the U.S. Open began play on August 25.

""I am very sorry to announce I won't be able to play at this year's US Open," Nadal posted on Facebook.

"I am sure you understand that it is a very tough moment for me since it is a tournament I love and where I have great memories from fans, the night matches, so many things."

"Not much more I can do right now, other than accept the situation and, as always in my case, work hard in order to be able to compete at the highest level once I am back."

This, of course, means that we won't be seeing Nadal's U.S. Open outfit in action. Revealed last week by Nike, Nadal was set to don the 2014 Nike Advantage Premier Rafa Sleeveless, classic Nike Premier Rafa Jacket and the Nike Premier Gladiator Short on the hard court. Nadal was also set to wear both day and night versions of the Nike Lunar Ballistec.
