Much of the news circling around Kevin Durant these days is focused on his recent meeting with Under Armour following the expiration of his Nike contract last week. While UA is making a heavy pitch to bring on Durant, Nike's still got plenty planned for the recently released KD VII, with the next colorway "Calm Before the Storm" set to drop this weekend.

Nike's marketing plan for the KD VII was focused around designing colorways inspired by events in Durant's life. The "Calm Before the Storm" colorway is inspired after KD's game, where he can spontaneously erupt and score from anywhere on the court with ease. The shoe features a grey base upper with pink accents throughout to represent a tranquil horizon before an impending storm. As usual the KD VII features personal cues to Durant including his hometown Maryland embedded on the outsole, and the names of his mother Wanda, his grandmother Barbara, his father Wayne and his brother Tony featured on the forefoot strap. Alongside the shoes are matching socks that represent a skyline with a looming storm to further cement the "Calm Before the Storm" design cue.

Keep an eye out for the KD VII "Calm Before the Storm" as it's set to hit the Nike Store and select retailers beginning August 16 for a suggested retail of $150.
