Kobe Bryant's status as a global icon has been reflected greatly on his recent string of Kobe 9 EM releases. You have the "Philippines" and "Game Royal" (South America) versions for that international vibe. And then there's the patriotic "Independence Day" colorway that dropped just before the 4th of July.

Now, it looks like Nike will be creating a "China" iteration as a nod to Kobe's rabid fanbase in Asia. The Kobe 9 EM "China" sports a red Engineered Mesh upper with gold accents on the Swoosh, midsole, and heel. Rounding out the design is a white LunarLon midsole, a black interior lining, and embroidered branding on the tongue.

There's no solid release date just yet, but keep in mind that Nike's no stranger when it comes to dropping sneakers exclusively in China, especially with Kobe's line. Could this sneaker fall in that category? We'll have wait it out these next few weeks to find out. Until then, U.S. 'head still have the Kobe 9 Elite Low to look forward to.
